What is semi private personal training? It is not a fitness class, at least. It is not a class where everybody does the same thing. Some would call this semi-private if classes are small. A group of many individuals or a small class doing the same exercise routine is not private.

Is This a Reason to Be Resentful About a Class-Based System? No.

The classroom environment is a decent model for everyone. It is a decent way of accomplishing things. You have a compromise in terms of individuality and the value one receives.

You are going to have some outstanding students in a large school. They would have been outstanding regardless of where they attended school. But they do make the school unique. You have a great deal of ordinary children. A few of the children are given a little extra attention and individualization from their teacher, and turn out well. The other half, who never even had a bond with their teacher in the first place, will still be average and will never reach their potential. 


Then there are the students who need to learn how to get their instructor's attention. They're capable, but they need a bit of extra support. This is the nature of most group fitness classes.

Let’s Consider Why One Might Consider Looking Into Semi Private Personal Coaching

1. Client: Coach Ratio

This goes without saying if you've completed the introduction. In semi-private settings, there is a lower client-to-coach ratio. We believe the highest ratio can be 8:1. The maximum number of clients per coach is six. This ratio will begin to dilute the focus and value one receives. We want our clients to feel valued.

2. More Individualized

In the definition of semi-private training, each client needs to have their personalized treatment. It's not just a matter of throwing "private" into the name and doing a bulk program for all. Private applications are employed in an attempt to develop a program for semi-private clients. 

It's not fair that one person wants to bodybuild on stage and another who just wants to wear a bikini for the first decade of life, yet they're performing the same workout program.


You may be working with six individuals with six different objectives and six programs. Or you may be working on a shared program with someone with the same objective, starting point, and limitation. Ultimately, though, we program for humans. Not the masses.

3. Build a Community

This is amazing. One of the biggest disadvantages of 1-on-1 training is that there is no camaraderie. It is the attention to detail that makes 1-on-1 training so wonderful. Everything has its downside. There will not be a solution for everyone and every objective. But if you build a community where people desire to be there, that is what can break or make a program succeed or not. It provides consistency. We would rather have long-term consistency than short-term perfection. We wanted to provide this esprit de corps to the people that we work with.


You will be working alongside other individuals in a half-private environment, and you'll all be working towards the same goal. You may not always have the same goal, but you'll all be up and at it every morning.


Shifting to a semi private personal training environment was a gargantuan leap towards being sociable. With groups of strangers or even friends, others are nervous and uncomfortable, they need to overcome their nervousness to improve the quality of their lives.

4. Price Is the Other Significant Drawback of 1-on-1 Coaching

It is already been mentioned that not having a community is a significant drawback.

It is not possible to hire a personal trainer. The $50 hourly rate is typical for trainers. This will depend on the trainer's level of experience and the area where they are. We never found a trainer willing to work below $20 per hour. Trainers with high demand get much higher rates than $100.


And if you simply contrast $20 an hour - that's a bargain if they are skilled - and compute that 3 days a week would be sufficient time to provide and receive some outcome, you'll be investing $240 / month. You won't have a good quality career counselor at $20 an hour.


Semi Private personal training gives clients such bang for their buck. In our humble opinion, even with the session cost reduction, we still think the value went up! They still get the individualized programs. They even get the advantage of being in a group, and that includes a missing sense of community.

Bottom Line!

Our team also follows 5 principles: Eat Well, Sleep Well, Move Well, Play Well, and Think Well. It is in a semi-private environment that our wellness model promotes play well and think well. You are invited to interact with other people. It challenges you to compete. Some individuals will be comfortable enough to join a semi private personal training because they like other people around them. But for others, training with other people will be difficult.


There are still individuals who require 1-on-1 instruction. Some individuals don't care about a personal program. Some individuals are content to simply attend class, get a good workout, meet some people, and then head home.
